Seyfarth is committed to moving along the path to sustainability in order to enhance the well-being of our communities and our planet.
We take a holistic approach to giving back to our communities by integrating our pro bono legal services, charitable giving programs, community service activities, and sustainability initiatives. Our programs follow our guideposts of Compassion, Action, and Impact: we care about our communities and our planet, so we take action to preserve and improve them. Our goal is to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
Global Wildfires
Start with compassion.
Compassion
Wildfires have destroyed many forests and communities around the world in recent years. Wildfires in California and Australia were particularly devastating for members of our Los Angeles, Melbourne, Sacramento, San Francisco, and Sydney communities.
Take action.
Action
In 2018, like so many others witnessing the destruction of the wildfires in Northern California, Seyfarth employees were desperate to help in any way. Seyfarth developed a matching fund for donations made to the California Community Foundation Wildfire Relief Fund. Donations made to the organization supported immediate, mid and long-term recovery efforts for major California wildfires, as well as support for animals affected by wildfires. In the days following the announcement of the match, the generous spirit of the Seyfarth community came out in full force. In total, Seyfarth and individual employees donated $46,230 to the relief fund.

Lawyers for a Sustainable Economy
In 2019, Seyfarth joined Lawyers for a Sustainable Economy, a law firm-led effort to provide pro bono legal services to sustainability-focused non-profit organizations and small businesses.
This initiative is facilitated by Stanford Law School and Stanford’s Precourt Institute for Energy. Through this program, potential clients complete an intake form; if they qualify for free legal services, Lawyers for a Sustainable Economy creates a project description and circulates the opportunity to the firms participating in the initiative. The project is then placed with an interested firm. The law firms provide a range of transactional legal services to clients, including corporate governance, contracts, real estate, intellectual property, privacy policies, terms of use, and employment advice.
Seyfarth pledged to contribute $500,000 in in-kind services to sustainability-focused organizations by the end of 2020. Seyfarth exceeded that goal in 2020, with over $730,000 contributed in in-kind services to these organizations!
